Staicele - Salacgrīva
Season: spring, summer, autumn.
Complexity: This is a non-classified leisure trip route, suitable for all people and all type of boats. General safety rules should be met; however, use of buoyancy aids is mandatory.
The lower part of Salaca, a classic two day route. This is the same Staicele - Vecsalaca route, only this version is a choise for those who dont have personal transport to get away from Vecsalaca. If you finish in Salacgrīva its 150m to public transportatin – bus stop. The river itself after the Vecsalaca bridge gets wider as the Svetupe river joins Salaca from the left bank. It gets wider and more shalow and the winds are mostly in the wrong direction – towards you, there are some fish weir acros the river, cross them in the midle where the biger waves are its deeper there, dont keep close to the banks its too shalow there. After the fish weirs there are shoals in the river, you will not get furder and youre in Salacgrīva alredy. Get of the river at the church on the rihgt bank.
