Staicele - Vecsalaca

Season: spring, summer, autumn

Complexity: This is a non-classified leisure trip route, suitable for all people and all type of boats. General safety rules should be met; however, use of buoyancy aids is mandatory.

The lower part of Salaca, a classic two day route. More difficult than the upper course of the river. Although there is almost no stream in the beginning of the route, starting from Mērnieki it can be pretty rough especially in high water. If its low water it can get quite shallow and the river bed if full of stones, because of this Campo rent ofers only polyethylene canoes for the lower part of Salaca river.

 There are plenty of halt places for camping in this route, these are beter setu p and beter populated...  and the local thieves know where the tourists camp for the night. No reason to be afraid just be aware of that!
