Usma - Puze lake

Complexity: This is a non-classified leasure trip route, suitable for all people and all type of boats. General safety rules should be met, however, use of buoyancy aids is mandatory.

Extended Engure route – 2 days including Usma lake in one and /or Puze lake (+7,5 m till first bridge) in other end. This is the route to enjoying nature along small and snaky river.

Recommended division of route is as follows; Tirkuša – Ozoldangas for the first day and the whole Engure section for the second day. In this case problems with car parking, place to stay for night and carrying too much stuff with you become resolved as everything except outfit for current day can be left in Ozoldangas. In means of time the second day of trip is a bit hastile, but the first – relaxing.

Route is proper for fishing, but there are less fish as you move away from Usma lake.

When taking this route it has to be considered, that the part of the Usma lake Luziķērte, from which falls out Engure river belongs to the Moricsala Nature Reserve. Presence here is allowed only with special permissions from related authorities.

Permissions are issued by Administration of the Slitere Nature Reserve in Dundaga, however we do not remember, they've actually done this. It is considered, that authorities will not have objections if you stay on waterline Usma – Engure outfall. So, keep the course!

Places to see :

Only few along this route, and distant from river. Enjoy the nature! On the way back you can visit Church of Ugale.

Transportation and reach of the route: There is a bussy bus traffic on Riga - Ventspils track.
