Type of the river : The river is proper for leisure paddling in spring and fall time and after the periods of intense rain.

Recommended boats : Canoe. But it is also possible to go by any kind of kayak or inflatable boat. Trip duration may vary from stated though.

Svetupe begins nearby Limbazi city, but the navigable stretch lies much lower - below the Pale village. Above this place the river is full of beaver dams and strainers, making it atractive to adventure seekers only.

Below Pale and, especially, Lauvas village, the river is pretty swift, there are obstacles on the river, but just enough to make you feel active. There is a 2-day trip to sea from pale or 1-day from Lauvas.

The last quarter of the route might be selected up to your taste. You can go Jaunupe canal to Salaca river (easiest way), you can go the old bed of the Svetupe down to Svetciems villages or even sea side. The river here in much swifter and narrower, so look where are you going!
